Fleroxacin
medication Under reviewA broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV to treat various bacterial infections.
Research summary
Healthy-human research on fleroxacin is largely pharmacokinetic and safety-focused, with some volunteer studies showing tolerability at certain doses and measurable renal handling. Clinical trials in infected patients suggest antibacterial efficacy across several infection types, but those studies are not applicable to healthy-subject benefit claims. Among healthy volunteers, higher doses were associated with more adverse events, including photosensitivity, insomnia, nausea, and other intolerance symptoms. Overall, the evidence supports fleroxacin as an antibiotic with known dose-related side effects, not as a supplement with wellness benefits.
